Youth Keep Busy this Summer with Four-Legged Friends
Young men residing in the Dallas County Juvenile Department have stayed busy this summer in Youth With Faces’ PREP Dog Training program. PREP stands for Patience, Responsibility, Empathy and Partnership, which is the focus of the course that offers hands-on training in gentle leadership.
Two young men ages 12-17 are paired with one dog from Oak Hill Animal Rescue. Class Instructor Jane Davidson, from Eureka! Canine Behavior Specialists, teaches a positive reinforcement-approach to working with pets. The experience helps the teens learn to address challenges with empathy and compassion.
